Bolton's unbeaten start to pre-season continued on Sunday, as Liam Feeney's first-half goal gave them a 1-0 win over FC Vestsjaelland.

Liam Feeney's goal arrived just after the half-hour at the Harboe Arena in Slagelse, Denmark, as he slotted home at the far post after Craig Davies had done well to turn away from his marker.

The hosts should have equalised after the break, but Rasmus Festersen blasted a penalty high over the crossbar after Dorian Dervite had handled inside his own box.

Bolton boss Dougie Freedman made five changes to the side that started against Brondby on Thursday evening, as Dervite, Joe Riley, Tim Ream, Darren Pratley and Davies took the places of Matt Mills, Cian Bolger, Dean Moxey, Mark Davies and Jermaine Beckford.

Wanderers started brightly and could have gone ahead inside the opening six minutes, but Medo Kamara's through ball bounced up off the slippery surface and just evaded the reach of Davies before rolling on through to Thomas Mikkelsen in goal.

The Vikings' first chance of the game arrived on the quarter-hour, as Peter Nymann cut in from the right flank and saw a deflected effort loop up and on to the top of Andy Lonergan's goal.

Dennis Sorensen pounced on some poor defending from Wanderers at the midway point of the half, but, with only Lonergan left to beat, his shot was poor and straight at the goalkeeper.

Moments later, Feeney put Davies clean through on goal at the other end. Davies' shot was well blocked by Mikkelsen, before the Bolton forward was denied by another fine save from the rebound that followed.

Davies and Ream both came close on the half-hour, before the visitors finally broke the deadlock with 33 minutes on the clock as Davies turned his marker and played a low ball across the face of goal for Feeney to turn home.

Feeney was denied a second in the final minute of the half, as Wanderers took their lead into the break.

There were no changes to the Bolton side at the start of the second-half, but it was the hosts who made all the early pressing in the early stages after the restart.

Sorensen headed straight at Lonergan on 54 minutes, but they had the chance to level just 60 seconds later as the referee awarded a penalty for a handball against Dervite. Fortunately, for Wanderers, Festersen fired the resulting spot-kick high over the crossbar and Bolton's lead stayed intact.

A glancing header from Ream flashed across the face of goal on the hour, while Lonergan did well to keep out a header from Festersen at the other end, before Davies' shot narrowly wide of the post in a good spell of attacking intent from both sides.

There was little in the way of action in the final 20 minutes, as Bolton made eight changes to break up the play, but Freedman wouldn't have been too concerned as his side saw out time to claim a comfortable 1-0 win.

Bolton return to action on Wednesday evening, when they face Mjallby AIF at the Strandvallen in Hallevik, Sweden. Kick-off is at 18:00 (UK time).
