Baptiste Joins Blackburn on Season-Long Loan

Bolton defender Alex Baptiste has joined local rivals Blackburn Rovers on a season-long loan deal.

Baptiste joined Wanderers on a free transfer from Blackpool last summer and made 43 appearances in his debut campaign at the Reebok Stadium, but found himself out of the team after a number of costly mistakes in the latter part of the season.

The 28-year-old played 45 minutes in Bolton's pre-season friendly draw at Brondby on Thursday evening, but flew back to Lancashire to complete his move to Ewood Park on Friday.

Speaking to Rovers' official club website about his move to Blackburn, Baptiste said: "It has been hectic to say the least.

"I played last night for Bolton in a pre-season friendly and the manager took me to one side and told me Blackburn want me.

"So I'm really happy to be here, it is a fresh start and I really looking forward to getting my head down in training and going hard and hopefully getting a push for promotion.

"It is a new challenge now and one I am very much looking forward to."

Baptiste will fly out to Portugal with the rest of the Rovers squad on Monday and will be ineligible for their Championship fixtures against Bolton next season.
