Former Bolton forward Marvin Sordell has quashed the tag from his ex-supporters that he was homesick during his time at the club.

Sordell left Wanderers on Friday, signing a three-year deal with local neighbours Burnley, bringing an end to an uphappy two-and-a-half year spell at the Macron Stadium.

The former England under-21 international joined the Trotters in a £3.2million move from Watford in January 2012, but failed to hold down a regular place under two separate managers - scoring eight goals in 29 appearances - before being loaned out to Charlton Athletic last season.

In November 2012, Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman said Sordell was struggling with homesickness. However, posting on his official Instagram account - @marvinsordell - Sordell admitted he was disappointed his time at Bolton didn't go according to plan, but living up north was never an issue and he wished the club well for the future.

"I'm over the moon to have signed for #BurnleyFC! Really looking forward to the challenge ahead of me and working under a great manager in Sean Dyche again.

"Disappointed that it didn't work out at #bwfc and I couldn't show the fans what I was really about but I wish everyone at the club all the best in the future.

"Also, to clarify, at no point did I ever say that was homesick. Can't wait to get going now!!"
