Blackburn Make Baptiste Enquiry

Reports on Sunday suggest Blackburn Rovers have made an enquiry to Bolton over the availability of defender Alex Baptiste.

Baptiste joined Wanderers on a free transfer from Blackpool last summer, signing a three-year contract, and made 43 appearances during his debut campaign at the Reebok Stadium.

He impressed during his early months at the club, operating out of position in both full-back roles, but found himself out of the team in the latter stages of the campaign after a number of costly mistakes provided opportunities for Alan Hutton and Oscar Threlkeld to come in at his expense.

Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer will be looking to improve on last season's 8th-placed finish, as they missed out on the play-offs by two points.

A report in the Sunday People indicates he has made an initial enquiry about the versatile defender, with the preferred option said to be taking the player on a season-long loan from August, although Rovers are yet to receive a response.

Baptiste played in both of Bolton's games against Blackburn last season, playing 90 minutes in a 4-0 home victory in March and scoring Wanderers' consolation in a 4-1 defeat at Ewood Park last August.
