Derby & Wigan Enter Jutkiewicz Race

Reports on Friday suggest Derby County have tabled a £1million bid for Lukas Jutkiewicz and Wigan Athletic could match that over the weekend.

Bolton are keen on bringing the Middlesbrough forward to the Macron Stadium, following a successful loan spell at the club last season, but they face strong competition from a host of Championship sides - including Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Dougie Freedman has confirmed he is interested in signing the 25-year-old on a permanent basis, but faces a financial struggle unless he can sell one of his most prized assets.

Derby are said to have matched Boro's valuation of the player, which, if true, is likely to prompt rival bidders into action over the coming days.

Jutkiewicz is currently on holiday in the United States, putting his future to one side, but his time at Middlesbrough looks increasingly likely to come to an end before the start of the new season.
