Marvin Sordell's Bolton nightmare could soon come to an end, with Burnley reportedly interested in signing him this summer.

Sordell joined Wanderers from Watford in January 2012 but has made just 29 appearances for the Trotters, scoring eight times, and spent the entirety of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic, for whom he scored eight times in 35 games.

The former England under-21 international will return to the Macron Stadium for pre-season training before the end of the month, unless a move to Turf Moor materialises - where he would link up with his former Hornets boss, Sean Dyche.

Sordell has 12 months remaining on his contract at Bolton and although Dougie Freedman has previously admitted he would welcome the player back into his squad, the Wanderers boss may be tempted into selling an unsettled player in order to boost his chances of signing Middlesbrough forward Lukas Jutkiewicz - who has been linked with moves to Derby County and Wigan Athletic.

Burnley will be playing Premier League football next season, after finishing as runners-up in the Championship this season, and the potential signing of Sordell would add to an-already formidable strike force which consists of Danny Ings and Sam Vokes.
