Bolton are reportedly closing in on the signing of Liam Feeney, on a free transfer from Championship rivals Millwall.

Feeney's contract at The Den expires on June 30, allowing clubs to sign him on a free transfer. The 27-year-old played four games during a brief loan spell at the Reebok Stadium last year, but was recalled by his parent club after attempting to force money out of Wanderers for a permanent deal.

Dougie Freedman held his nerve and refused to buckle under the strain of the Lions' demands, and now looks set to sign the winger for nothing.

News of Feeney's imminent arrival is sure to end Bolton's interest in Birmingham City's Chris Burke, who is thought to be out of the Trotters' price range wage-wise.

With Feeney expected to be confirmed as a Wanderers player in the near future, he will join Neil Danns and Liam Trotter as the club's third signing of the summer. Charlton Athletic defender Dorian Dervite is expected to follow soon, as well as Southampton midfielder Andy Robinson.
