After a season which ended in relegation, a Shrewsbury Town supporter tells us why Tom Eaves has no chance of making it at Bolton.

Only goal difference kept Salop off the foot of the League One table at the end of the campaign, meaning they will be playing in the fourth tier of English football from August.

In our latest edition of Q&A, Shrewsbury fan Rob Jones give us a damning round-up of Eaves' loan spell at Greenhous Meadow - including why comparisons to Kevin Davies couldn't be further from the truth and why Wanderers should be looking elsewhere for their next big star.

Q: Tom Eaves made 25 appearances for Shrewsbury this season, scoring two goals. How would you sum up his time at Greenhous Meadow?

A: It's been disappointing, to say the least. He was fantastic for us last season, but this year...

He couldn't trap a bag of cement or hit a cow's backside with a banjo are two ways to describe his loan with us, as he has struggled with confidence.

Q: Eaves scored six times in a 10-game loan spell last season, but failed to reach those same heights again this term. Did he get lucky in his first run of were his performances this campaign just that poor?

A: It makes me wonder if last year was a fluke. He generally likes coming in on goal from wide and shooting, but in front of goal he is woeful.

Q: The former Oldham Athletic youngster has been likened to former Wanderers captain Kevin Davies. Do you think he'll ever be good enough to play at Championship level, or even higher?

A: I would say he was a million miles away from Kevin Davies and, no, I really can't see him making it in the Championship. If anything, I see him drifting out of the league altogether.

Rotherham United cut short his stay at the New York Stadium and I wish we had as well.

Q: With two years left on his Bolton contract, do you think now is the time for us to sell up and would you like to see his deal made permanent over the summer?

A: Sell, but I would be amazed if you got something for him!

Maybe someone could buy into him being young and him coming from a decent club like Bolton, but, for me, if I was at Bolton, I would be clearing him out and soon.

Burnden Aces would like to thank Rob for taking the time to answer our questions.
