Lee Chung-Yong has been named in South Korea's 23-man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Chung-Yong, who has 53 caps for his country, is expected to play a key role in their Group H schedule, with fixtures against Russia, Algeria and Belgium giving them an opportunity to break into the last 16 once again.

Four years ago, in South Africa, the 25-year-old netted in games against Argentina and Uruguay. His goal in the latter game, which was in the round of 16, wasn't enough to prevent them being eliminated from the competition.

The Bolton midfielder is one of nine European-based players in Hong Myung-Bo's squad, while fellow English-based players Kim Bo-Kyong, Ki Sung-Yeung, Park Chu-Young and Yun Suk-Young also make the squad.

Goalkeepers: Jung Sung-Ryeong (Suwon Bluewings), Kim Seung-Gyu (Ulsan Horang-i), Lee Bom-Young (Busan I'Park)

Defenders: Kim Jin-Soo (Albirex Niigata), Yun Suk-Young (Queens Park Rangers), Kim Young-Kwon (Guangzhou Evergrande), Hwang Seok-Ho (Sanfrecce Hiroshima), Hong Jeong-Ho (Augsburg), Kwak Tae-Hwi (Al Hilal), Lee Yong (Ulsan Horang-i), Kim Chang-Soo (Kashiwa Reysol)

Midfielders: Ki Seung-Yeung (Sunderland), Ha Dae-Sung (Beijing Guoan), Han Kook-Young (Kashiwa Reysol), Park Jung-Woo (Guangzhou R&F), Son Heung-Min (Bayer Leverkusen), Kim Bo-Kyoung (Cardiff City), Lee Chung-Yong (Bolton Wanderers), Ji Dong-Won (Augsburg)
