Bolton have signed academy graduate Glenn Matthews to his first professional contract, keeping him at the club until the end of next season.
Matthews has stepped up from the academy to make six appearances for Wanderers' development squad this season but missed the final third of the campaign after injuring the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, as well as tearing cartilage.
He underwent surgery last month and is expected to miss the rest of the calendar year.
The 19-year-old, who was born-and-bred in Bolton, features primarily as a right-back and will hope to follow in the footsteps of fellow hometown youngsters such as Andy Kellett and Oscar Threlkeld, who both made their senior debuts for the club in recent weeks.
