Bolton will release four senior players this summer - with Zat Knight, Chris Eagles, Tyrone Mears and Jay Lynch all set to leave the club at the end of June.

Club captain Knight will leave Wanderers after five years at the Reebok Stadium, in which time he has made 191 appearances for the Trotters and scored four goals.

Eagles and Mears joined Bolton in a combined £3million transfer from Burnley in the summer of 2011, but have both struggled to hold down regular roles in the side since Dougie Freedman's arrival as manager in October 2012.

Eagles will leave the club with a record of 19 goals in 106 appearances, while Mears was restricted to just 32 outings after suffering a broken leg in training just days after his arrival.

Another player set to leave is Lynch, who has failed to live up to his potential in the development squad. Despite signing professional terms in 2012, he failed to make a single senior appearance for Bolton.

As for the academy, six players will be released from their deals. Sam Bailey, Elliot Newby, Jordan Hendrie, Guillermo Torres, Saul Hamer and James Kelly have all been told their services are no longer required.

Meanwhile, Wanderers have confirmed out-of-contract trio Stuart Holden, Andre Moritz and Arran Lee-Barrett will be offered fresh terms to stay at the club.
