Oscar Threlkeld admits he was delighted to make his Bolton debut at Sheffield Wednesday, but now has his sights on a first senior appearance at the Reebok Stadium.

Just four days after fellow academy graduate Andy Kellett made his professional debut, Threlkeld produced a performance beyond his years as Wanderers ran out 3-1 winners at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon.

The Bolton-born full-back, who has supported the club since he was a child, thought he gelled well with the rest of the defence and hopes to impress manager Dougie Freedman in training ahead of Saturday's curtain call against Birmingham City.

"I felt like it went well," Threlkeld told the club's official website. "I just had to focus on the game - I had a lot of encouragement from my team mates too which helped massively.

"I felt as a back four we played well together - our distances were correct and even when Sheffield Wednesday kept coming at us, we stuck together and held them out.

"The movement of the boys was tremendous really - the gaffer had said that in the first 20 minutes we needed to push them high and that's what we did and we were rewarded with our goals.

"We were really pleased, but all credit to Sheffield Wednesday because they came out and tested us in the first ten minutes and gave as good as they got, but we just defended well and hit them on the break which was ultimately the difference.

"It would be great to make my full home debut next weekend, but all I can do is get my head down and give my all.

"It's just going to be a case of training hard all week to prove to the manager that I can do a job and hopefully I'll be involved again."
