Craig Davies ended a run of seven games without a goal on Saturday, by scoring a hat-trick in Preston North End's 6-1 win over Carlisle United.

Prior to the game, Davies had netted just twice in 12 outings for the Lilywhites but ended that run in style by scoring his first hat-trick since September 2012 - when he scored four times for Barnsley in a 5-0 win at Birmingham City.

Preston's win leaves them 5th in League One, level on points with Rotherham United and one behind Leyton Orient. They are eight points behind second-placed Brentford and 19 ahead of Swindon Town, in 7th, meaning they are guaranteed a play-off position at the end of the season.

Elsewhere, five other Bolton players were in action for their respective loan clubs - four of whom completed 90 minutes, just like Davies.

Keith Andrews and Marvin Sordell were on opposing sides, as Brighton & Hove Albion beat Charlton Athletic 3-0 at the AMEX Stadium.

Josh Vela played the full 90 minutes as Notts County beat Port Vale 4-2 in League One, while Tom Eaves also completed the entire match as Shrewsbury Town were beaten 2-1 at Tranmere Rovers.

Sanmi Odelusi was available after a recent suspension and was introduced as a 58th minute substitute as MK Dons lost 2-0 at home to Crawley Town.
