Ahead of Bolton's game against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, we take a look back at a classic game between the two sides.

In last week's #ThrowbackThursday, we went back to March 2010 and a 4-0 Wanderers victory over Wigan Athletic in the Premier League. This week, we go back to April 22, 2000, and Bolton's 3-0 win over Huddersfield in Division One.

Huddersfield went into the game in 5th place, seven points above their opponents and looking comfortable in their push for promotion via the play-offs.

Sam Allardyce's team had been poor on the road throughout the course of the campaign, winning just four times, but everything clicked at the McAlpine Stadium as the Trotters ran out easy winners as they kept alive their own promotion aspirations.

A brace inside the opening 26 minutes from Bo Hansen put Wanderers in control, before Mike Whitlow bundled in a corner just before the hour to complete a straightforward win for the visiting side. Former Bolton midfielder, and hero of the 1996/97 promotion winning team, Scott Sellars was booked as he faced his ex-employers.

Bolton would end the season in 6th position, two points above Huddersfield. They would go on to face Ipswich Town in the semi-final stage of the play-offs, where they would lose on aggregate, following a controversial second leg at Portman Road.
