A sickness bug has been doing the rounds at Bolton's Euxton training base, with four first-team players known to be suffering symptoms.

Mark Davies, Chris Eagles, Joe Mason and Andy Lonergan have all been suffering from the virus over the course of the last week, with each showing various signs of infection.

The virus, which can attack the ears, nose, throat and eyes has caused all four players to miss training sessions and match action and they could be banished from the first-team as the club attempt to prevent the problem from spreading to the rest of the squad.

Mason has been struggling with an ear infection but returned to the Wanderers side for Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, after missing the midweek draw at Derby County.

Eagles and Lonergan have both missed the last two games, with the former suffering from an eye infection. Lonergan is thought to have been struck with a throat problem, while Davies missed the weekend game after falling ill on Friday night.
