Former Bolton manager Colin Todd has expressed his gratitude to the club's supporters, who recently wished him well in his recovery from heart surgery.

Todd, who is currently in charge of Danish club Randers, fell ill during a training camp in Spain last month and underwent a triple heart by-pass operation last week.

Messages of support flooded across the web when the news was broke and the 65-year-old, who managed the Trotters between 1995 and 1999, decided to contact The Bolton News in order to pay his thanks to those supporters.

"I just want to thank the well-wishers from Bolton," Todd said. "I was very pleased that they have let me know I have been in their thoughts. I am very grateful to them for their kind words.

"I have had a lot of people wish me well, not only from Bolton but a lot who remember me from my time at Derby County and Sunderland as well.

"Everyone has been very good and that's been important to me and to my family.

"We were in a training camp in Spain playing head tennis. I got the symptoms and I looked them up on my iPad. If I'd not looked them up I could have been in bigger trouble.

"Things are going well and I have to thank the surgeons who have been great."
