Bolton have completed the signing of Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton on an initial one-month emergency loan deal.

Hutton is well down the pecking order at Villa Park, with his last appearance for the club coming on the final day of the 2011/12 campaign - almost 22 months ago.

The 29-year-old, who has also represented Glasgow Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur, among others, will stay at the Reebok Stadium until March 29 and will wear the number three shirt during his time at the club.

The Scotland international enjoyed spells at Nottingham Forest and Real Mallorca last season, but has been restricted to just six international games this campaign. Despite that, he is expected to go straight into the Wanderers squad for Saturday's visit of Blackburn Rovers.
