Bolton's Defender Deal Hits a Snag

Bolton's hopes of signing Mikael Dyrestam look to be over, after they failed to agree a compensation package with IFK Goteborg.

Dyrestam spent last week training with Dougie Freedman's squad and is said to have impressed enough to have been offered a contract at the Reebok Stadium.

The 22-year-old is a free agent after leaving Goteborg at the end of December, but a compensation fee would need to be paid to his former employers - reported to be in the region of £320,000 - for whom he represented for more than six years.

Wanderers may yet decide to renew their interest in the two-time Sweden international, although the drawn-out proceedings of a tribunal may prompt the club into looking elsewhere - with Premier League full-backs likely to become available over the next fortnight, as the emergency loan window reaches its latter stages.
