Nine years ago, today, a 15-year-old school kid made his first steps into the world of online media, as Burnden Aces hit the web.

On February 8, 2005, the first version of this very website went live on the now-defunct MSN Groups platform. Sporting an appauling purple background and a bright orange logo, it provided a free linking service to the latest breaking Bolton Wanderers news from across the globe.

The following year, Burnden Aces made the move away from that service and became the very first independent Wanderers website of its kind. Other sites were around before us, and plenty have arrived on the scene since, but 2006 was a breakthrough year for BWFC supporter-run outlets.

Such was the success of that newly-launched website, a discussion forum was added in 2007 and currently has more than 1,000 registered members. In the coming days, those people will help us to surpass 250,000 posts.

In the seven years that have passed since 2007 - when Burnden Aces became a recognised brand - we have been through the highs and also the crushing lows. From beating Manchester United in 2007, to losing 5-0 at Wembley Stadium in 2011; From drawing at Bayern Munich in 2007, to suffering Premier League relegation in 2012 - we were there and have reported on it all.

You can find more than 4,000 articles in our archives, with every single one of them published by genuine Bolton supporters. We have aquired the assistance of a number of voluntary editors over the years. Some of them disappeared into the abyss, while another has since gone on to work in the media and communications department at the Reebok Stadium.

We have also established successful working relationships with professional outlets such as The Bolton News, BBC Radio Manchester, ESPN and the Premier League - to name but a few - and we continue to reach out to more and more of you in every passing year. For that, we thank you all. Without you, the readers, Burnden Aces would have ceased to exist a long time ago.

Next year marks the 10th anniversary of Burnden Aces' launch and we aim to celebrate in style, with a whole host of new features to come over the next 12 months that are sure to keep you coming back for more.

In the meantime, why not subscribe to us on Facebook, Twitter and/or Google+?
