Gretar Steinsson, a former Bolton player, has emerged as a key figure in Yannick Bastos' move to the Reebok Stadium.

Steinsson, who played 138 times for Wanderers between 2008 and 2012, now works for Five80 Management and Consultancy Limited - a company which he formed last July following his retirement from the game.

His role at Five80 involves recommending untapped talent to mainstream clubs across Europe. As part of the Bastos deal, Steinsson arranged for Trotters boss Dougie Freedman to see the 20-year-old in action for FC Differdange before negotiating the formalities of the transfer with both clubs, the player and his family in Luxembourg.

In his first interview as a Bolton player, Bastos confirmed Steinsson's involvement in the transfer and says he will be acting as his manager during his time at the club.

"He is going to be my manager now," Bastos told the club's official YouTube channel. "He represented the club for the transfer but now he is going to represent me and he's going to be my manager.

"It's a big stage for me because I've left my family and friends. I was in my last year at school and I left everything, just to make my dream come true.

"I will train with the under-21s to find rhythm and hopefully I will get some training practice at first-team level. It is the plan of the manager, just for me to find rhythm at a professional club."
