Bolton's woes continued throughout the month of January, but two of their loanees were celebrating FA Cup success.

Back at the Reebok Stadium, Wanderers failed to win any of their four league outings in the first month of the calendar year as they dropped to just four points above the Championship's bottom three.

Away from the club, Keith Andrews, Marvin Sordell and Tom Eaves all enjoyed mixed success as they try to impress with their respective loan sides - with Andrews and Sordell both set to feature in February's FA Cup fifth round ties.

Fully fit after a month on the sidelines through injury, Andrews completed 90 minutes in four separate games for Brighton & Hove Albion - as well as coming on as a late substitute in another. He was part of the teams that have advanced into the fifth round of the FA Cup, although the Republic of Ireland international did pick up two yellow cards during the month.

Sordell's lack of game time continues to be a major problem for both him and Bolton, with two starts and one substitute appearance all to show for his efforts at Charlton Athletic in January.

Like Andrews, the former England under-21 international will also feature in the fifth round of the FA Cup, where the Addicks will travel to Sheffield Wednesday.

Finally, Eaves featured in five matches for Shrewsbury Town as his goalless run was extended to nine games. After scoring on his Salop debut, the former Oldham Athletic forward has failed to rediscover the form that made him a huge hit at Greenhous Meadow last season and his time as a regular starter may be about to come to an end.

Eaves did start in three successive League One fixtures in the first half of the month, but was replaced in each of their last two games - against Rotherham United and Swindon Town, respectively.
