Bolton forward Craig Davies is set to join Preston North End on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Injury has restricted Davies to just 10 appearances so far this season and Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman says he is trying to push a deal through in order to secure the extra finances that will allow him to bring in other players before the close of the transfer window.
A move to Deepdale would see Davies link up with former Trotters captain Kevin Davies and Freedman says the only reason a move is going to happen is down to money.
"I'm trying to be as honest as I can, and this is a difficult time for everyone on and off the field," Freedman told The Bolton News. "It's a balancing act.
"There are certain players out there that I would like to get but they are not available because of the money situation.
"We are trying to generate that."
