Bolton have made an approach to Millwall over the availability of midfielder Liam Trotter.

Trotter's contract at The Den is set to expire at the end of the season and Lions boss Ian Holloway says Wanderers have made an enquiry about the player, who is stalling on the terms of an improved deal.

The 25-year-old has scored three goals in 19 appearances this season and when speaking about a potential move to the Reebok Stadium, Holloway said the decision on what happens next is entirely up to Bolton.

"If we can't give him something he will sign, I might have to maximise that and move him out," Holloway told News Shopper.

"Bolton might be interested. We've spoken to them and the ball is in their court at the moment."

Reports in London suggest Holloway is ready to sanction Trotter's move to the Reebok, after setting his sights on Yeovil Town's Ed Upson as a replacement.
