Bolton are closing in on the loan signing of Middlesbrough forward Lukas Jutkiewicz.

Wanderers are in the market for a replacement for David Ngog, who joined Swansea City on Monday, and Jutkiewicz is at the top Dougie Freedman's wishlist - which also contains Cardiff City forward Joe Mason and Sunderland's Danny Graham.

Jutkiewicz has made 24 appearances for Boro this season, but has scored just two goals after falling behind Kei Kamara in the pecking order at the Riverside Stadium.

A move to Bolton could present him with an opportunity to start more regularly than he does at present, with Boro boss Aitor Karanka refusing to give the 6' 1" forward a regular run of 90-minute games.

The 24-year-old joined Middlesbrough in a £1.3million transfer from Coventry City in January 2012 and has scored 15 goals in 70 appearances for the club.

Speaking ahead of Wanderers' Championship fixture at Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday night, Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman revealed the deal to bring Jutkiewicz to the club was almost complete.

"It is 95 per cent along the way for Jutkiewicz," Freedman told The Bolton News.

"He is someone I have admired since his Everton days.

"He can be one of the top strikers in this division.

"We are nearly there and because of his pedigree and experience I think I would involve him tomorrow if we get it done."
