Yannick Bastos has agreed terms with Bolton and is expected to sign an 18-month contract early next week.

The Luxembourg international is the hottest prospect coming out of his country at this moment in time and looks set to link up with Wanderers' development squad over the next few months - with an end goal of seeing him promoted to first-team duty early next season.

The 20-year-old turned professional in 2009 and has previously represented SV Eintracht Trier, as well as having two separate spells at US Rumelange.

He made his senior international debut in a 2-1 victory over Lithuania last August and has gone on to earn four caps, including two in World Cup qualifying fixtures earlier this season.

Speaking about the likely capture of Bastos, Bolton boss Dougie Freedman said the transfer won't have any impact on first-team arrivals in January and he will give the youngster an opportunity if he proves himself to be good enough.

"He's a very young player, 20 years of age, and he is really for the development squad," Freedman told The Bolton News.

"He is studying over there but he's not really for the first team right now. We'll see how things go.

"I keep an eye on the future of this football club. People keep telling me to concentrate on the first team but that's what I do."
