Marvin Sordell is set for a lengthly spell on the sidelines, after tearing his hamstring in Charlton Athletic's 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town on New Year's Day.

Sordell suffered the injury in the latter stages of the first half at Portman Road, with the Addicks trailing 1-0 at the time.

In what was his first start since October 19, the former England under-21 international stretched to control a through ball and immediately pulled up clutching the back of his leg. Within moments, he was replaced by Jordan Cooke before slowly hobbing down the tunnel.

A stoppage time strike from Johnnie Jackson earned Chris Powell's side a late point on their travels, as they stay one place and three points behind Bolton in the Championship table.

Due to the potential severity of the injury, Sordell may be sent back to Wanderers to be assessed by medical staff before undergoing any rehabilitation work under the watchful eye of his parent club.
