Loan Report: Fraser Gives Bolton Cause For Concern

With October coming to a close, it's time to take a look at the progress of the Bolton players out on loan at other clubs.

Keith Andrews, Marvin Sordell, Gary Fraser and Tom Eaves have all had time to settle into their new roles at Brighton & Hove Albion, Charlton Athletic, Partick Thistle and Rotherham United, respectively, while development squad captain Cian Bolger was sent to Colchester United last week.

Both Andrews and Sordell have been playing regular Championship football this term, but it was Fraser who made the headlines in October for an incident that occurred in a Scottish under-20's fixture.

Fraser, who hasn't featured for Partick Thistle's first team since August, was selected to play in a development league fixture against Dunfermline. He would be sent off in that game, for a retaliation described as 'punching a player on the opposing team' and 'thereafter kicking him repeatedly on the head and body'.

The 19-year-old could be handed a ban from anywhere between two matches to an entire calendar year. His fate will be decided at a SFA disciplinary hearing on November 14.

Back in England, Bolger made his debut for Colchester at the weekend - playing the whole 90 minutes in a surprise 1-0 victory over Peterborough United in League One. The 21-year-old was booked by referee Stuart Attwell at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, but Macauley Bonne's 70th minute goal provided a winning start for the Republic of Ireland under-21 international.

Elsewhere, Andrews played four games for Brighton throughout the month of October - completing 90 minutes on each occasion. The 33-year-old, who has been one of the Seagulls' stand-out players so far this season, scored his first goal for the club in a 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday. He was booked in that same game, but that remains his only caution to date.

Sordell also made it onto the scoresheet this month, when he netted the equaliser in Charlton's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on October 1. The former Watford forward started three games, completing just one, and was dropped to the bench for Sunday's goalless draw with Wigan Athletic.

Finally, our monthly round-up finishes with a look at Eaves. The highly-rated Wanderers youngster started just one game for Rotherham in October, a 1-1 draw with Tranmere Rovers, as he continues to play a bit-part role for Steve Evans' side. A 45-minute substitute role in a 3-2 defeat at MK Dons was the best it got for Eaves, who is struggling to make an impact during his loan spell at the New York Stadium.
