Bolton defender Cian Bolger has joined League One side Colchester United on a one-month loan deal.

Bolger joined Wanderers from Leicester City on the final day of the January transfer window, signing a three-and-a-half year contract at the Reebok Stadium, but has yet to make his senior debut for Dougie Freedman's side.

The 21-year-old has become a regular part of Jamie Fullarton's development squad and has earned himself the captain's armband this campaign.

A Republic of Ireland under-21 international, Bolger has previous loan experience at Bristol Rovers and will go straight into the U's squad that plays host to Peterborough United on Saturday.
