Bolton are set to be without Adam Bogdan for between three and six weeks, after he suffered a strained knee ligament.

Bogdan is the longest-serving senior professional at the Reebok Stadium and is closing in on 100 appearances for the club. He has played every minute of league action for Dougie Freedman's side this term.

The 26-year-old has sprained the medial ligament in his left knee, after landing awkwardly during a training session at the club's Euxton training base on Monday.

Initial reports suggested the Hungary international would miss between six and 10 weeks of action, but Wanderers have since confirmed he could be fit to return to action after the next international break. Dougie Freedman's side host Millwall on November 9 before going to Watford on November 23, after the international friendlies and World Cup qualification play-offs have taken place.

Speaking to the club's official website, Freedman said: "It is better news then we first feared. The doctors have told me that he will be out of action for some time between three and six weeks."

Andy Lonergan looks set to deputise during Bogdan's absence but with development squad stopper Jay Lynch sidelined for the next month himself, Wanderers may opt to dip into the loan market to find temporary cover over the next month. As things stand, second-year academy scholar Harry Campbell and first-year scholar Erik Bukran are the club's only other available choices.
