Dougie Freedman refused to blame referee Carl Boyeson after his Bolton side were held to a 1-1 draw by Reading.

Boyeson was booed off the pitch at full-time, following a game with a number of contentious penalty decisions. Only one of five appeals was given, as David Wheater was adjudged to have handled the ball inside his own box, and Nick Blackman cancelled out Darren Pratley's first half opener from the spot.

Speaking after the game, Freedman believes his side deserved their half-time lead but admits a draw was a fair result after 90 minutes.

"It was a good entertaining match," Freedman told the club's official website. "We played very well in the opening 45 minutes and we showed fantastic creativity going forward.

"If Medo's chance went in instead of hitting the post then it would have been 2-0 and you would have fancied our chances of winning the game. But credit to Reading, they are a good side and they did well to come back. They came at us in the second half and they got what they deserved to be honest so I am happy with the point.

"It was close in the first half but the game did slip away from us a bit. Looking back I will be happy with a point from the game because I think Reading will be in the top six at the end of the season.

"There is more to come from us and if we scored that second goal we would have been more comfortable.

"We played against a team which was well structured and organised, Reading gave us a few problems but overall it was a deserved point for both managers."
