Bolton legend John McGinlay has been appointed Chief Scout at Wigan Athletic.
After a seven-year spell working for Cincinnati United, in the United States, McGinlay returned to England last summer before taking up a scouting role with Gordon Strachan's Scottish national side.
Six months later, the 49-year-old has linked up with his friend - former Bolton player and manager - Owen Coyle, who was recently appointed manager at the DW Stadium.
Speaking to Wigan's official club website, Coyle believes McGinlay's wealth of experience will benefit the Latics.
"John is someone who I have known for a very long time, having played together and worked closely off the pitch," Coyle said.
"He has a wealth of experience, a fantastic eye for talent and a real desire to help bring success to Wigan Athletic.
"I'm delighted to have him on board and can’t wait to start working with him once again."
