Former Bolton forward Jack Sampson has joined League Two side Morecambe on a free transfer.
Sampson was one of five academy scholars to be told their contracts wouldn't be renewed by Wanderers this summer - along with Adam Blakeman, Alex McQuade, Joe McKee and Lewis Fielding.
The 20-year-old, who once attracted interest from Manchester United, has signed a two-year deal at the Globe Arena and will officially complete the move on July 1st.
Speaking about his latest signing, Shrimps boss Jim Bentley believes he can help get the best out of the former England under-19 international.
"Jack has a good pedigree and has loads of potential," Bentley told Morecambe's official club website. "He's been at Wigan and Bolton and played in the league on loan at Southend and Accrington and I think he will have a lot to offer.
"He is still only young and we won't put too much pressure on him but I am really pleased that he has joined us.
"He has played for England and come highly recommended and I am sure he will make progress with us over the next two years."
