Lee Chung-Yong is likely to feature in the 2014 World Cup after South Korea booked their place in the finals on Tuesday.

With the Asian qualifying stage coming to a close, South Korea needed just one point against Iran to secure their passage into the finals. Defeat, combined with a six-goal swing from Uzbekistan's match against Qatar, would have seen them miss out on automatic qualification.

As reports of a possible hamstring injury surfaced, Chung-Yong was left on the bench in Ulsan and was an unused substitute as his country slipped to a 1-0 defeat, courtesy of a 60th minute goal from Iran's Reza Ghoochannedjhad.

As a result of South Korea's loss, a five-goal victory would have seen Uzbekistan qualify ahead of them. Nerves seemed to get the better of them in the first half, however, as Qatar led at the break courtesy of a 37th minute strike from Abdulqadir Ilyas. The Uzbeks came roaring back after the break, however, scoring five times in the final half-hour to lead 5-1.

One more goal would have completed an unlikely turnaround but it wasn't to be for Uzbekistan, who miss out on World Cup qualification by one goal. South Korea join Iran, Japan and Australia as Asia's representatives in the 2014 tournament in Brazil.
