Kevin Davies admits he would seriously consider a move to Sheffield Wednesday, should the Owls make him an official offer.

After 10 years at Bolton, Davies will leave the Reebok Stadium when his contract expires on June 30th. Brought up in the Steel City, the 36-year-old has always been a supporter of Sheffield United and was on the books at Bramall Lane until the age of 15.

Despite his links to Wednesday's fierce rivals, Davies says he wouldn't rule out a move to Hillsborough ahead of the new season.

"It was a long time ago so I wouldn't rule out a move to Wednesday," Davies told The Sunday People. "It's a huge club and I'm a grown man now.

"I thought about going to Wednesday when Dave Jones came in for me on transfer deadline day. It was a really close call and I had some stick from my mates then.

"When I was younger I supported United but my father supported Wednesday so we were pretty split as a family. Everyone’s different, of course, but if it's a club that appeals - the manager, the fans and the team - I would have to look at it.

"If an offer does come, I'll have to give it serious consideration."

Davies also revealed his intentions to head into management when his playing days come to an end. The Wanderers captain is currently studying for his UEFA A licence and admits the possibility could arise when he hangs up his boots.

"There is no massive rush on my front," he said. "I just want to make sure it's right.

"There are a lot of young ambitious managers around so if it was the right club, the right manager and the right area, I wouldn't rule it out.

"Going into management later is something that interests me, so I'm looking forward now to working with someone who I can learn all that sort of stuff from."
