Sheffield Wednesday boss Dave Jones says he cannot understand why Hayden White left the club to join Bolton.

After rejecting the opportunity to turn professional at Hillsborough, White signed a contract at the Reebok Stadium last week and will officially be unveiled as a Wanderers player at the start of July. A fee will need to be agreed for the 17-year-old, which could be decided at an independent tribunal if the two clubs fail to reach an agreement.

Speaking about White's decision to leave the Owls, Jones says he is puzzled by the switch but admits he and Wednesday will have to move on.

"We made Hayden a good offer for this football club," Jones told The Star.

"Bolton came in for him. He is entitled to go. He feels his future is with them.

"If the kid wants to go, that's his choice. I don't understand it but it's his decision. We move on."
