Sordell and Dawson Make Pearce's England Squad

Marvin Sordell and Craig Dawson have been named in the England U21 squad for this summer's European U21 Championships.

Sordell may have been frustrated by his lack of playing time for Bolton this season, but he remains a regular choice for Stuart Pearce's side and will be looking to add to his 12 caps when the Young Lions begin the tournament against Italy on June 5 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Dawson enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Reebok Stadium in the final third of the campaign and his form means he is likely to be first choice at the heart of an England defence that has recorded nine consecutive clean sheets.

Meanwhile, Pearce has opted to hand a first call to Wigan Athletic midfielder Callum McManaman and the tournament could also see him hand a debut to Southampton full-back Luke Shaw.
