Jay Spearing will decide on his future in the summer, but says it hinges on whether or not he has a place at Liverpool.

Born in Wallasey, Spearing grew up as a Reds supporter and remains a huge fan of the club to this very day. He made 24 appearances under the management of Kenny Dalglish in 2011/12, but was deemed surplus to requirements when Brendan Rodgers arrived at the club last summer.

The 24-year-old has made 39 appearances during a loan spell at Bolton this term but is unlikely to figure again due to a broken toe. When asked whether he would like to move to the Reebok Stadium on a permanent basis, Spearing kept his cards close to his chest but says a decision will be made in the summer.

"I'm not going to say yes or no at this point and it probably won't be for me to decide," Spearing told The Bolton News. "The gaffer has got to want me in the first place, hasn't he?

"I'll go away on holiday in the summer and then come back, sit down with Liverpool and with my agent to decide what happens."
