Craig Dawson and Jay Spearing have returned to their parent clubs - West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool, respectively.

Dawson has been on loan at Bolton since February and made a total of 16 appearances for the club, with the last coming in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Cardiff City. During his time with the Trotters, Dawson was a key figure in helping the club move away from the relegation picture and into contention for the Championship's end of season play-offs.

The England under-21 international has been promised first-team games at West Brom by manager Steve Clarke, and it remains to be seen whether or not Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman will look to make a permanent move for the defender in the summer.

Meanwhile, Spearing has returned to Liverpool for treatment on the broken toe he picked up in the 2-1 win at Bristol City earlier this month.

The 24-year-old has played 39 times during his season-long loan from the Anfield club and won't feature against Blackpool next weekend, as he has a protective cast removed from his foot the following day.

Should Wanderers make the play-offs, Spearing is unlikely to be available for either leg of the semi-final, but has set his sights on returning to Bolton and helping them achieve promotion with a victory in the final at Wembley Stadium next month.

"I'd do anything to play a part in the final," Spearing said. "If we get there, and I'm given a slight chance, I'd take it.

"When I heard the news that my toe was broken in three places I was absolutely devastated.

"The way the lads were playing and the way we were going towards the play-offs, it was horrible to think I wasn't going to play a part.

"But, hopefully, I can still do something. Any way I could be involved, as long as the gaffer wanted me to come back in - I'll be there."
