Stuart Holden will train with Bolton on Monday, after Wanderers recalled the midfielder from his loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

Holden's time at Hillsborough was due to come to an end on Wednesday, but speculation over his future intensified as he was left out of the Owls squad to face Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking after his side's 1-1 draw with the Tractor Boys, Wednesday boss Dave Jones confirmed the United States international is heading back to the Reebok Stadium and thanked the player for his services during his brief time at the club.

"Bolton are in a play-off spot, they have one or two injuries, and they want him back," Jones told Sheffield Wednesday's official club website.

"He's got better and stronger as his loan has gone on and I would like to thank him for his services and wish him the very best for the future."

Posting on his official Twitter page, Holden later paid tribute to Sheffield Wednesday and admitted he was looking forward to helping aid Bolton's push for promotion back to the Premier League.
