Craig Dawson wants to extend his loan at Bolton and help the club win promotion back to the Premier League.

Dawson joined Wanderers on an emergency 93-day loan deal in February and is due to return to West Bromwich Albion after next weekend's fixture at Cardiff City.

Football League rules prevent clubs from extending loan deals at this stage of the season, meaning the England under-21 international will miss Bolton's final game of the season and - should they qualify - the play-offs.

Dawson admits it will be tough to leave the Reebok Stadium and part of him wishes he could stay, but going back to West Brom was always part of the deal.

"It will definitely be a wrench to leave because it's been great here," Dawson told The Bolton News. "If I have to go back to West Brom then it's something that needs to be done.

"But part of me would like to see the job through. It's great when you are playing games and winning.

"It's important for me to keep developing, but there are important games coming up and I am fully focused on the match on Saturday and getting myself ready for that.

"I've done myself no harm here. I have really enjoyed my time and training with the lads. They are a great set and it will definitely be missed.

"I've learned a lot from playing with Zat (Knight) and the management team. Dougie (Freedman) has been a great help to me as well."
