Bolton are sweating on the fitness of Jay Spearing and David Ngog, who could both miss the remainder of the season.

Spearing limped out of the victory at Bristol City on Saturday with a broken toe and is expected to miss the next two to three weeks of action. He could make a return should Wanderers qualify for the play-offs, but any hopes of featuring prior to that seem to be minimal.

Meanwhile, Ngog was taken to hospital on Tuesday night after landing awkwardly late on in the 3-2 defeat at Leicester City. The former Liverpool forward left the field on a stretcher and required oxygen, with initial reports indicating the 24-year-old may have suffered a dislocated shoulder. Should that prove to be the case, Ngog would be ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

The double blow comes on the back of news that Tyrone Mears and Keith Andrews are also unlikely to feature again this season. Mears is suffering from a severe bout of glandular fever, while Andrews has undergone surgery to help cure a long-standing Achilles problem.

With Mark Davies and Joe Riley also on the injury list, Bolton's hopes of one final push for promotion could begin to lie on players who may not have featured as much as they would have liked throughout the season.
