Stuart Holden played another hour of Championship football on Saturday, as Sheffield Wednesday beat Blackburn Rovers at Hillsborough.

Having played 62 minutes of the Owls' 2-1 victory over Barnsley last weekend, Holden was not included in the squad that drew 1-1 at Bristol City on Easter Monday. He returned to the starting lineup against Rovers, however, helping his new club move three points clear of the relegation zone and plunge Wanderers' Lancashire rivals into the bottom three.

Former Bolton midfielder Jermaine Johnson netted a brace for Dave Jones' side, who also had Leroy Lita on the scoresheet.

In League One, Tom Eaves failed to build on his hat-trick last weekend as Shrewsbury Town lost 2-1 at high-flying Yeovil Town. Eaves played the full 90 minutes at Huish Park, where a James Hayter penalty and a strike from Paddy Madden gave the hosts the victory either side of a Stephen McGinn equaliser.

Having lost his place in the Tranmere Rovers side in recent weeks, Michael O'Halloran returned in their 1-0 defeat at Doncaster Rovers. The on-loan Wanderers forward was a 74th minute substitute for Sean McGinty at the Keepmoat Stadium, where a 63rd minute goal from Rob Jones ensured Rovers topped the League One table and Tranmere drop out of the play-off places.
