Sheffield Wednesday have made an enquiry to Bolton over a possible loan deal for Wanderers captain Kevin Davies.

Davies has fallen behind the likes of David Ngog and Craig Davies in the pecking order in recent weeks, with the majority of his recent appearances coming as late cameo roles.

He started the recent wins against Blackburn Rovers and Brighton & Hove Albion, respectively, but returned to the bench for Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Ipswich Town.

Davies turns 36 next Tuesday and the possibility of regular first-team football could attract the one-time England international, who is due to complete 10 years of service to Bolton when his contract expires at the end of the season.

As a strong supporter of Sheffield United, it remains to be seen whether or not the player would be interested in a move to the Blades' Steel City rivals.
