Dougie Freedman praised the attitude of his Bolton players, as a stoppage time goal from Chris Eagles secured victory over Blackburn Rovers.

Introduced as a 71st minute substitute for the impressive Darren Pratley, Eagles struck in the final minute of added time to secure a memorable win for the Trotters - their fourth in a row.

Speaking after the game, Freedman said he expected Rovers to play for a draw and was delighted to see his team play right until the final whistle.

"We have done our homework," Freedman told the club's official website. "We knew that Blackburn would come and set up for a draw but, saying that, they won't have worked as hard all season as they did tonight and that is credit to them and the manager.

"It was a very difficult derby game. They worked very hard in terms of closing the ball down but we have got a certain belief and certain momentum with us right now and that carried us through right to the final whistle.

"Our defence tonight was outstanding. Andy Lonergan came in and did well. The players stuck to their responsibilities literally to the last second and they kept on going, and when the opportunity to go on and win the game occurred we took it.

"It was all about the team effort tonight and having to make sure when we got our chance we were clinical. When it fell to Chris Eagles we knew what the outcome would be. He has got a cool head and he took his goal very well.

"It was also very pleasing to keep a clean sheet for the second consecutive home game and I am delighted we could build on the win at Barnsley at the weekend.

"Our fans stuck with us all the way through. It was a real derby atmosphere and they kept on going through the entire game.

"We are back in training tomorrow, first thing. Key to our results has been our attention to detail and hard work. We have a tough challenge against Brighton (on Saturday) but we are in a good run of form at the moment and we will be looking to continue that."
