West Ham Not Interested In Gardner

Ricardo Gardner will not be signing for West Ham United, Hammers assistant manager Neil McDonald has confirmed.

Last week, we revealed that the 34-year-old had been on trial at the Boleyn Ground - after turning out in the club's development match against Southampton.

Gardner has been without a club since leaving Wanderers at the end of last season, which brought an end to a 14-year stay at the Reebok Stadium. There had been speculation that he could sign a deal until the end of the current campaign, but McDonald has moved to reject those rumours.

"Ricardo's just been in for a few weeks trying to get his fitness up and we've helped him out with a few games," McDonald told talkSPORT.

"We've got no spaces in the 25-man squad so there's nothing doing with us, but we had a great relationship with him at Bolton and he asked to come in and get fit and that's what he's done.

"He's ready and raring to go if anyone needs a left-back or a left midfielder. I'm not sure if there is interest from other clubs but he's fit now and ready to get fixed up with a new club."
