Bolton boss Dougie Freedman was pleased with his side's 'off the ball' work, following Tuesday's 1-0 victory over Peterborough United.

A fifth minute header from Craig Dawson proved to be the only goal of the game, as Wanderers recorded back-to-back victories for the first time since last March.

Although the game wasn't the prettiest, Freedman's side are now unbeaten in five games and have picked up 11 points from their last possible 15. Speaking after the win over the Championship's bottom side, the Bolton manager praised his players for their 'off the ball' work that led to his team keeping a clean sheet.

"It was a very difficult match," Freedman told the club's official website. "Peterborough are difficult opponents and they play with a lot of freedom. They have a lot to play for and we knew it was always going to be a tough test.

"For me, the signs were there that the training ground work we do day in day out is paying off. It wasn't our most fantastic display on the ball, but off the ball we worked very hard and made it difficult for Peterborough to create any clear-cut chances.

"We also played some fantastic football and moved the ball around really well in the opening 20 minutes and were well worthy of going a goal up.

"At the back we were solid, compact and very difficult to break down.

"We created several opportunities and, obviously, we wanted to go on and score more goals, but it was the defensive display that ultimately secured the three points.

"We have been performing well of late and not always getting the results. Tonight was not only a clean sheet and three points, but it was our fifth game undefeated and our third straight home win.

"All in all, we're picking up points and moving in the right direction and that's what it's all about.

"It was another case of great support from the home fans. Sometimes you get games like that, where you have to dig in deep. I thought our backing was once again superb."
