Dougie Freedman believes Bolton were worthy of three points against Crystal Palace, but was happy to take a draw.

Wanderers and Palace played out a goalless draw at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon, in what was Freedman's first return to the Eagles since moving to the Trotters in October.

Speaking after the game, the Bolton boss admitted he was delighted with the way his team performed against a side who have been challenging for promotion this campaign.

"We worked very hard for the point today and full credit to the players," Freedman told the club's official website.

"I have seen us work for one another and we were prepared to cover every blade of grass. On top of that, we created numerous chances and always looked dangerous on the break.

"The game-plan was solid and we didn't give much away. We dealt well with a bright and lively Palace side.

"I felt that we defended well and played some good football through the middle of the park. We were controlled throughout and when we got the ball we broke with speed. We limited a top six side to very few opportunities overall.

"A few balls flew past our goal towards the end, but we held our own and played some good stuff ourselves. On another day we could well have taken all the points, but ultimately I believe the draw was probably a fair result.

"There were almost 1,000 fans backing us today and I would like to thank to them for making the difficult journey.

"Overall, I'm satisfied with the performance. We have now kept consecutive clean sheets and I am seeing good signs of progress.

"I have a squad who have shown they are prepared to put in the hours on the training ground and that bodes really well for the future.

"We now turn our attentions to the FA Cup fourth round tie at home against Everton and I am looking forward to that."
