Tom Eaves maintained his impressive goalscoring record on Saturday, as he found the net in Bristol City's 4-1 defeat at York City.

Trailing to a Garry Kenneth own goal, the on-loan Wanderers striker levelled the scores after 15 minutes at Bootham Crescent. However, further goals from Jason Walker and a brace from Ashley Chambers had the hosts 4-1 up at the break and that is also how the match would end.

Following the heavy defeat, Rovers manager Mark McGhee was sacked from his position as manager, with the Pirates languishing in the League Two drop zone.

Eaves has now played 16 times for the club and has scored seven times.

Another Wanderers striker was in lower league action on Saturday afternoon, as Michael O'Halloran completed 90 minutes for Tranmere Rovers on his return to Sheffield United.

O'Halloran spent the second half of last season at Bramall Lane, but he failed to haunt his former club - as the League One high-fliers played out a goalless draw.

Meanwhile, Gregg Wylde's future at Bury is under doubt - with the Shakers currently placed under a transfer embargo by the Football League.

It has been reported that all loan players must return to their parent clubs, which could possibly explain the reason why the former Glasgow Rangers midfielder was left out of the 18-man squad for yesterday's 1-0 defeat at Crewe Alexandra.
