Dougie Freedman believes his Bolton side were fully deserving of their three points, after they beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Ewood Park.

An early strike from Kevin Davies, coupled with a Lee Chung-Yong tap-in just after the hour, put Wanderers two-up against their Lancashire rivals, who would go on to win the game despite a late consolation from Jordan Rhodes.

Speaking after the match, Freedman thought his side controlled the majority of the game and was pleased to come away with a well earned win.

"We made six changes to freshen things up and we have the ability to do that at the club," Freedman told the club's official website.

"The players are putting in everything they can in training and showing me that they want to play. We have a big squad and we will use it.

"The movement was fantastic throughout the course of the game and, all in all, it was a great team performance from the first minute to the last.

"We got off to a flying start. I felt we controlled the game, passed the ball very well and moved it very quickly throughout.

"Full credit to Blackburn, who kept on going. They never made it easy for us, but we stood up and stayed strong.

"However, if you look at the game through chances, opportunities created and goals scored, we deserved to win the game.

"It was a real intense derby atmosphere and our travelling support was tremendous. I was told we had 3,000 fans with us, but, to be honest, it felt like double that. They gave us a great backing and played their part.

"What is pleasing as a coach is, when you look at the whole game, we played well, scored good goals and were prepared to put bodies on the line when defending.

"I want to do the best I can for the fans. They pay their money and they deserve to see us putting our all into the game and the team did that tonight.

"We remain unbeaten. We have a real positive attitude in place, and we will look to take that into the Ipswich game."
