CSKA Sofia chief executive Georgi Iliev says Bolton midfielder Martin Petrov will return to the club in 'two years'.

Petrov spent two years with the club, before leaving for Swiss side Servette in 1998. He would later go on to represent VfL Wolfsburg, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City, before joining Wanderers on a free transfer in the summer of 2010.

The 33-year-old is currently out of favour under new boss Dougie Freedman and although rumours of a possible January exit have began to surface, Iliev says the Bulgaria international will return to the club in two years' time as a sporting director.

"He will return to CSKA as playing director because he's one of the biggest names in Bulgarian football," Iliev told the Bulgarian press.

"It will not happen now but will happen within two years."
